Swimming With Your Swim Team
Tips for swim teams to successfully participate as a whole
If your organized swim team (masters, high school, or water polo) is interested in participating as a team and would like to swim at the same time, please contact the Swim A Mile Registrar at 510/601-4040 x 105 or email swim@wcrc.org and we'll get you scheduled! Please note that swim lanes and times are limited.
Each swim team member is required to raise $250.
We ask that each swim team send in a deposit to hold the slots for their swim team. The deposit is a donation that will go towards your team total. Deposits are:
- $100 for an adult swim team
- $20 per swimmer for youth teams (18 & under)
If your organized swim team (masters, high school, or water polo) wants to participate, but your team members are unable to swim at the same time, please have each individual team member register as an individual swimmer.
Compete with other swim teams to win the Top Team Fundraising prize. Teams, which includes both competitive swim teams (masters, high school, private swim teams) and teams of at least four individual swimmers, compete to see who can raise the most money for the Swim A Mile. NOTE: All donations received by November 7, 2008 will be counted towards this prize. The winners will be awarded post November 7th. Past winners include The Manatee Aquatic Masters and Marty’s Mermaids (Karen Hoexter, Susan Steakley, Anne Hollingsworth and Marty Heinrich) who won in 2007 by raising $16,642.
All swimmers will need to submit a waiver at the event. If members of your swim team are under 18 years of age, their guardian will need to sign a waiver, but does not need to be present at the event. Please print out this waiver (doc), have the guardian sign it, and bring it to the event.
Swimming with Friends: Make a Team!
You can form your own team from friends and coworkers. Teams consist of at least four individual swimmers. There is no maximum number of team members. Each person can swim a portion of a mile or a full mile.
Please be sure that team members sign up for the same swim date and time. Spots are limited, so to ensure that you all get to swim at the same time, please be sure to register on the same day. Please indicate team name at registration.
Each team member will register and raise $250 individually. Then, total your fundraising efforts and qualify to earn team prizes.

If you and your teammates are swimming at the same time and want to swim in the same lane, make that request to the Lane Director when you check in with her, but this may mean that your group will have to negotiate your different swim speeds.
