Women's Cancer Resource Center News
May 2007
Dear Friends,
I am delighted to announce that Joanna Cuevas Ingram is joining the staff of the Women's Cancer Resource Center as the Latina Program Coordinator for Alameda County . She starts on May 14.
Most recently, Joanna served as a Field Organizer for The Education Trust--West in Oakland . There she served as a statewide liaison with more than seventy-five community based organizations involved in public school improvement and reform, providing strategic and tactical direction to ETW's community organizing, outreach and advocacy initiatives. Prior to that, she served as a Labor/Community Organizer for the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union-Health Systems Division and SEIU-United Healthcare Workers. She is fluent in Spanish and English and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College.
As the Latina Program Coordinator for Alameda County , Joanna will work closely with our staff and volunteers to:
- Provide assessment, personal emotional support and referral to cancer education, financial assistance, survivorship and other programs;
- Co-facilitate WCRC's Latina and Family Support Group;
- Coordinate a sustainable information & referral helpline for Spanish speakers in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties ;
- Develop the Latina Community Health Advocate program;
- Contribute to the success of the Alameda County Latino Cancer Coalition and Sobrevivir al Cáncer;
- Develop and maintain relationships with referral medical centers, especially Alameda County Medical Center ( Highland Hospital ).
Please join me in welcoming Joanna to the Women's Cancer Resource Center.

Connecting local resources and community needs is what the Tiny Tickets Program is all about. Please send your "tiny tickets" directly to WCRC at 5741 Telegraph Avenue Oakland, CA 94609. If you're in the area you may also drop them off Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5 PM
