WCRC Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering with WCRC is a really fun thing to do! You have the opportunity to be a part of a community, health or volunteer fair, find out about the great work being done at other organizations and also there is often good music, beautiful art and delicious food. Please contact me if you would like to sign up for one of these events. The shifts will probably be for about 2 or 3 hours each and we try to have 2 people per shift. One person stops by the center to pick up the materials prior to the event and another person returns the materials sometime the following week. Call Sarah at 510.601.4040 x 105.

Healing Adventures
Join Healing Adventures for a gentle outdoor adventure or earth celebration. Our programs are geared for people challenging illnesses and families with school-age children. We take special care to accommodate any pace and most medical and physical needs. Most people who participate in our programs are new to these activities or returning to physical activity while in recovery. Our experienced leaders are dedicated to creating an atmosphere of both physical and emotional safety for all. And we have a lot of fun! Family members, caregivers and friends are encouraged to participate.

Healing Adventures Kayaking
Our sea kayaks are very stable and easy to paddle. No previous experience is necessary. To meet the needs of the group we provide a combination of single, double and triple kayaks. Even if you cannot paddle a boat, we can match you with a kayak guide as a partner to do the work.

Call Mary or Liz at 510-528-8223
This is a fabulous weekend in the high Sierra, rafting and camping on a class II-III river. We begin our trip about 4 hours from the bay area, south of Lake Tahoe, near the town of Markleeville. We will raft a 21-mile stretch, tent camping half way down the river for two nights. Our cars will be shuttled down to the place where we end the trip near Gardnerville. Cost: $300 - $500, discounts available.

Healing Adventures is non-profit project of the Tides Center funded by The California Department of Boating and Waterways, The Van Loben Sels Foundation, The Elaine Mackie Trust, The National Cooperative Bank, Kazan, McClain, Abrams et al Foundation and generous donations of time and energy from dedicated volunteers. Healing Adventures founder Graciella Rossi, an active wilderness guide for sixteen years, was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 1990. To aid her recovery after chemotherapy, she participated in a variety of therapeutic programs fostering psychological and spiritual growth. She established Healing Adventures with her husband, Rick Spittler, to bring the nurturing powers of the outdoors to those challenging cancer and other illnesses. Both Rick and Graciella have over thirty years experience designing and leading outdoor adventures for people with special needs.

Scholarships Available -- Our aim is to serve everyone regardless of financial ability.
