- Inflammation: the Silent Storm in Chronic Disease

There is much evidence that chronic inflammation leads to an increased cancer risk. Chronic inflammation unleashes a plethora of agents which can cause mutations in neighboring cells, as well as changes in gene expression favoring the activation or "turning on" of cancer genes (oncogenes). The choices we make every day impact these changes. We will discuss dietary concerns including blood sugar regulation, botanical support and stress reduction to decrease inflammation. Instruction will accommodate students wishing to refrain from coming to the floor, those who travel in a wheelchair, and others who desire a greater range of options. Whether you are post injury, living with limited mobility, out of shape or simply curious whether this might suit you, do give this practice a try.
Ian delights in sharing purification practices of Hatha Yoga: chanting, moving, breathing, relaxing. His training at Integral Yoga has been continuous since 2001. His aim is for you to feel flexible during the day and to sleep well at night.

- Nutrition Film Night - King Corn

Please join us for a screening of King corn, a feature documentary about two friends, one acre of corn and the subsidized crop that drives our fast food nation. When the friends plant and grow a bumper crop of America's most productive grain the find troubling questions about how we eat and how we farm. Healthy Bodies, Minds and Spirits with Monique Sonoquie

with Janeen Antoine. Janeen will show a slide presentation of "Impacted Nations" a 2005 traveling indigenous art exhibition she curated for Honor the Earth. With over fifty pieces of artwork spanning the continent, Impacted Nations is an artistic collaboration that portrays the conflict between Native peoples' cultural and spiritual relationship to Native land and the economic forces that undermine that relationship and Indigenous ways of life. The show also features artwork depicting renewable energy such as solar and wind power. She will also make a brief presentation on indigenous women working in their communities to halt and redress environmental contamination of their homelands. Janeen is Sicangu Lakota and has lived in the Bay Area 37 years. Cofounder of American Indian Contemporary Arts, she works with the community for social justice through the arts and radio.

Learn to make 4" x 6" fiber postcards that can be sent through the mail. Join Marion Coleman, local fiber artist, in making these collage, improvisational quilts using bits of fabric, small found items such as photos from magazines, buttons, glitter, glue and thread. They are easy and fun to make for gifts or your personal collection. Marion will bring her collection of cards from around the world for inspiration. REGISTRATION REQUIRED
